Measuring Pile-On Effect When An Issue Triggers Disruptions By Multiple Stakeholders

The above diagram illustrates how reputation threat increased over multiple events associated with one issue. Initially, customer’s expressed displeasure with the quality of service provided via boycott (left blue arrow). Then, there was an increase in reputation threat when employees struck on behalf of the poorly-served customers (middle blue arrow). Finally, there was a third spike in reputation threat when government regulators became involved (right blue arrow).
